PASSIVE VOICE. ACTIVITY: IDENTIFY THE PASSIVE VOICE STRUCTURES

Hello! My name is Peter. I am an Industrial Engineer and I studied a Masters degree on Quality long time ago.

 I have worked in a tiles factory for more than 20 years. I was invited to work here by an old friend who had been promoted to a manangement position. I remember that when I entered this company, the raw material was carried by trucks from one state to another. Now it is transported by helicopter but most of the times it is transported by train. When we have a lot of production, we sometimes need to buy the raw material abrad, then it is brought to Mexico by ship. It is much easier this way.

In that time, when I entered this famous company, the new employees were interviewed by a general human resources manager, English was not required and if you only spoke Spanish, there was not any problem. Now, newcomers are interviewed first by the recruitment crew, but speaking another language is requested first. It does not matter if you don´t have Engineering experience; you must speak English first. Once you are hired, you are trained immediately on what you will do in the company.

Tiles, toilets and tubs are produced in this company. At the beginning, they  were hand made. Now, they are made by some small robots which are pulled by some transportation bands. Now, our products are being sold around the world. When the company began, its products were only made in white. Now, they are being made in many colors. I can say that many things have changed in the company since I entered.
